In just this one year Hollywood presented us with three hundred plus movies. Of these 350 + movies, some where around sixty or seventy will be categorized as comedies. We will leave you with a short list of the funniest movies produced in 2008.
MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As I'm sure you know, this is the next in the sequence to the box office hit Madagascar. The four animal heroes, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo want to return to New York's famous Central Park Zoo, which is the only home they know. With things going wrong again, as the Penguins are up to their old tricks, they are off to have more adventures first.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Full time stoner Dale Denton unfortunately has just viewed a bad cop, and a big time dealer, kill someone. He was spotted, and they know he has seen what's gone down. Knowing they've seen him, he unwittingly throws down his joint, a unique version called pineapple express, and gets away fast. The weed is so special, that the bad guys can. The game is on, the bad guys are hunting, and Dale and dealer Saul are on the run.
HAMLET 2: Dana Marshz, formerly a small time actor, has found himself teaching theater classes at the high school to uninspired high school kids. The school loses a building due to destruction, so the school administration feels that the useless theater courses will get the axe. Fully inspired, he sets out to save the program by producing Hamlet 2, a sequel to the original work, which is his own work.
GET SMART: Maxwell Smart, as agent 86, is here again, and everything is under "CONTROL". KAOS vs. CONTROL, agents hidden in plants, and all the classic quotes. It is fun to have another glimpse back at the antics of Maxwell Smart.
TROPIC THUNDER: Starting with an incredible cast this outrageous flick is a parody of recent war movies. To get a realistic performance from his spoiled actors to see the movie be a success, the seemingly bold director into the middle of nowhere, and leaves them on their own. His theory is to frighten them into the realism needed for a great war film, that will be recorded on hidden cameras. Incredibly, because the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they are convinced everything is just an act, but the bullets flying are actually real. This is a great cast with incredible make up for Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise.
STEP BROTHERS: When two 40 year olds, who both live at home with one parent, will now have to share a bedroom because their parents have wed, you can only imagine the mess. Having the combination of Reilly and Ferrell in those roles, and this seems to be a great recipe for a very fun film. This seems like a best bet for comedy lovers.
FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL: Down in the dumps after a devastating break up with long time girlfriend Sarah, (an actress in a cheesy sitcom), Peter finally plans to go on a trip to Oahu to get over his misery. As you might guess, upon checking into the resort, he runs into the woman who just left him and her new lover, a rock star super stud. This film is a classic romantic comedy.
ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, a couple of energy drink promoters, might be seeing some hard jail time after trashing the company truck. The way they can avoid serving jail time is to perform 150 hours of community service. They are assigned to work as mentors with difficult children as sort of a big brother. The pieces are all in place for this to be very funny.
ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: The bills aren't getting paid and Zack and Miri, roomies who have been friends since grade school, are desperate to make some money. The answer? Easy, make a dirty movie. Obviously this seems like a good recipe for a funny film.
