I have made a small selection of movie hits for 2008. These are some of the films I enjoyed watching this year. Hopefully you will see a picture or two that you will enjoy.
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: Searching for his missing brother, professor Trevor Anderson sets out on a journey that puts him on a journey to the center of earth. This is a newer edition of the 1959 production, that was formed from the science fiction book by renowned author Jules Verne. Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers star in this adventure film.
STEP BROTHERS: Two forty year old child adults, who each live with their single parents, find themselves having to live in the same bedroom because their parents marry, we see that they are bound to have problems. Having the combination of Reilly and Ferrell as the key players, and you have the ingredients for lots of laughs. This seems like a best bet for a good laugh in 2008.
HAMLET 2: Unsuccessful actor Dana Marshz has moved on to teaching the high school after classes to students who just don't care. When they lose a building at the campus, the school administration feels that the after curriculum will get the axe. Wanting to fight, he sets out to keep the school from dropping his classes by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he creates.
TROPIC THUNDER: With a collection of acting greats this outrageous flick is a classic parody of popular war films. To get better results from his underachieving super stars to see the movie be a success, the desperate director into the jungle, and leaves them there by themselves. His plan is to shock them into producing a war classic, that will be recorded on hidden cameras. Unbelievably, as the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the crew is left on its own, and they are convinced everything is just an act, but the bullets flying are actually real. Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise star.
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL: The Indiana Jones adventure continues, after a long break. This the fourth movie in the Indiana Jones movies. In this movie Mr. Jones takes on the Russians. This time, it's off top the Amazon to search for ancient relics called the Crystal Skulls, and the secrets they carry.
MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As the title suggests, this the next edition to the hugely successful movie Madagascar. Our cast of lost animals, Alex (Lion), Marty (Zebra), Gloria (Hippo), and Melman (Giraffe) are attempting to leave Madagascar, and go back to the Central Park Zoo, which is the only home they know. With things going wrong again, as the Penguins are up to their old tricks, they will wind up going to have more adventures first.
GET SMART: Maxwell Smart (agent 86) makes a return to the big screen, "and loving it". KAOS vs CONTROL, gadgets galore, and the cone of silence. It's a trip down memory lane to look back at the 1960's spy spoof series.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Heavy pot smoker Dale Denton, in a stroke of bad luck, has seen a bad cop, and the local drug king pin, murder someone. The killers know he has seen what's gone down. Knowing they've seen him, he drops his joint of pineapple express, and takes off. This joint is such a unique type of weed, that it is possible to find out who has it. The "fun" is on, as Dale and his dealer Saul are desperately hiding from the bad guys.
ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, who sell energy drinks, might be seeing some hard jail time after trashing the company truck. The way they can avoid being locked up is by doing community service. Their task will be to become mentors in a community service program. Let the fun begin.
