How to Lose Some Pounds after Pregnancy

By Ricardo d Argence

Getting back your pre-pregnancy body is a common desire after delivering your baby. The question is how? Now that you have a newborn, it's time to adjust to the new routine, and perhaps breast-feeding is part of that process. It can be very difficult to find an effective method to loose weight after giving birth.

You may be amazed to find that you are probably already doing one of the best things since breast-feeding is healthy for both you and the baby. Breast feeding burns up to 500 extra calories per day! Woman need to increase their caloric intake during pregnancy because of breast feeding which may cause an increase in weight.

If you are breast feeding you will need to carefully consider your diet and not lose any nutritional content the baby may need. Just be sure to keep whole grains, fruit, vegetables, vitamins and minerals on the table, if you decrease your caloric intake.

Weight loss after a pregnancy is no different than any normal time. And losing weight comes with a list of foods to be avoided, like sugar in large amounts, fatty and fast food - one famous value meal packs nearly 1000 calories.

Intead of those kind of foods you should prefer: fruits of all kinds, vegetables (especially leafy green ones), protein (dont skimp on the meat, look for lean cuts of red meat) and a lot of water.

Water should be one of the major food groups as it is essential to the proper functioning of the body. When your body does not get enough water you cannot eliminate waste like you should, your body becomes dehydrated, and if you breast feed, it can harm milk production.

You will want to drink as near the recommended eight glasses of water a day as you can. This will keep your body functioning properly and can even raise your metabolism. Studies have shown that 500 ml of water a day can increase metabolic rate by 30%.

One thing that will keep you from feeling that hunger pain is drinking plenty of water. At several occasions your body needs water and you incorrectly think that it is hunger. In addition, you will feel fuller longer after meals.

Also, there's no better way to achieve the look you want without exercise. Since your body has just undergone a major trial, you should consult a doctor before you begin any type of strenuous work out.

Walking is a good place to begin if you are not physically ready for a full scale workout. Simple exersices can be benificial as well, get a carriage and take baby for a walk around the neighborhood, use the stairs instead of the elevator or park further from the door at the supermarket.

Exercise is vital due to the fact that it increases your heart rate, which therefore raises your metabolism. Things like heart disease risk goes down significantly with regular exercise. - 16036
